Puedo encontrar qué gema está instalada por la gem list comando, pero no me muestra dónde están instaladas las gemas.

Después de instalar las gemas, si quieres saber dónde está una gema en particular. Intenta escribir:

 gem list

Podrás ver la lista de gemas que tienes instaladas. Ahora use bundle show y nombre la gema para la que desea conocer la ruta, como esto:

 bundle show <gemName>

gem which *gemname*

Para completar otras respuestas, la gem-path gema puede encontrar la ruta de instalación de una gema en particular.

Instalación:

gem install gem-path

Uso:

gem path rails

Supongo que rvm (y rbenv) guardan la ruta a gema en una variable de entorno. Si corro

env | grep GEM_

yo obtengo

Creo que $ GEM_HOME es la ubicación que te interesa.

Las gemas se instalarán en $ GEM_HOME "/ gems"
