Finalmente me las arreglé para hacerlo usando el símbolo para unicode mapa en

¿Hay alguna manera de convertir la fuente del Símbolo unicode en una secuencia html a su entidad utf8 equivalente?
es decir. 0xf067 (  como entidad html de símbolo unicode) a la letra griega de letra pequeña (U + 03B3 aka γ en utf8 estándar)
UTF-8 es Unicode, no necesita cambiar nada, ya lo tiene en Unicode.
