¿Qué significa la línea que se muestra cuando inicia una instancia del intérprete de Python?

Python 2.7 (r27:82525, Jul  4 2010, 07:43:08) [MSC v.1500 64 bit (AMD64)] on win32

Entonces sé que tengo Python 2.7, pero ¿qué pasa con el resto?

Especialmente confuso para mí son los 64 bit (AMD64) on win32 y r27:82525 secciones.

La línea que ves indica cómo se construyó el intérprete de Python. Romperlo:

Python 2.7                        -- Python version
(r27:82525, Jul 4 2010, 07:43:08) -- The build date and revision from src trunk 
                                     that was used to build this.
[MSC v.1500 64 bit (AMD64)]       -- Compiled with MSVC compiler targeting 64-bit
on win32                          -- Obviously for windows platform

82525 : construir 82525

Jul 4 2010, 07:43:08 : cuando se construyó tu binario de python

MSC v.1500 : compilado con 64w-bit VC ++ 2008

win32 : estas usando windows
