descargar - no puedo instalar pip mysql-python

Estoy tratando de hacer que django / pip / mysql funcione y parece que no consigo entender cómo instalar mysql-python. este es el error que recibo cuando intento instalar mysql-python

Googlear revela que necesito instalar python-dev pero siempre que intento instalar con

sudo apt-get install python-dev

me sale este error:

E: Package ''python-dev'' has no installation candidate

Actualmente estoy usando linux mint 15 RC y creo que ese podría ser el problema ... pero no estoy seguro. Me he quedado sin ideas :(

intente descargar python-dev a través del administrador de software:

sudo apt-get install python-dev
