Si está utilizando opencv 2.4, las interfaces SURF y SIFT se cambian a una carpeta no libre. Puedes usarlo incluyendo esta línea.
#include <opencv2/nonfree/features2d.hpp>
entonces puedes usar SurfFeatureDetector como antes.

Tuve este problema después de actualizar OpenCV de 2.3.1 a 2.4.5, y resolví este problema vinculando opencv_nonfree, y agregue los encabezados necesarios para mi proyecto:

Tuve un problema similar después de instalar ROS. El problema era que estaba enlazando a las bibliotecas equivocadas.
Solucioné los errores de enlace agregando la siguiente línea a mi CMakeLists.txt: link_directories(/opt/ros/groovy/lib)
para ocv 2.4.9: #include <opencv2/nonfree/features2d.hpp>
es la ubicación de SURF. En Configuración del proyecto, seleccione Propiedades de configuración , luego Vinculador , luego Ingreso y luego agregue opencv_nonfree249d.lib a Dependencias adicionales .
