nullpointerexception - sincronizar - Obteniendo un error al acceder a la API del calendario de google. Excepción de puntero nulo

Aparece un mensaje de error a continuación ... cuando ejecuto el código para acceder a la API de Google Calendar. Hay un archivo client_secrets.json que tiene las credenciales (ID de cliente e ID de redirección). Descomprimí y ejecuté el paquete que google me dio, se ejecuta con éxito y pude verlo con el mensaje "Correcto, Agregar código aquí". después de lo cual me arroja una excepción de nullpointer para la cual no estoy seguro de qué fue lo que salió mal.
