En la clase RegisterAction , llamó al método estático UserDao.addUser(u) . El campo sf de la clase UserDao solo se inicializa cuando se llama al constructor de UserDao , pero en su caso, el constructor nunca se llama => el sf nunca se inicializa, por eso se llama a sf.openSession(); arroja una NullPointerException() ;

Debe inicializar sf antes de llamar a uno de sus métodos.

Tenga en cuenta que es una muy mala práctica inicializar un campo estático en un método no estático y / o no sincronizado.
