Y he logrado que el proyecto construya (y despliegue)

Sin embargo, cuando voy a iniciar el servidor de ejes de acuerdo con las instrucciones, obtengo el siguiente

Como la opción MaxPermSize JAVA se eliminó en JDK 8, debe cambiar la siguiente

Parece el mismo problema reportado en este ticket jira . Pruebe la solución dada allí y vea. Tendrás que editar el archivo axis2server.bat como se explica en los comentarios de jira.
