DWright tiene razón ... una alternativa en lugar de exportarlo cada vez que comiences R es ubicar tu ruta java

sudo locate libjvm.so

y agregue ir a ldpaths

sudo gedit /etc/R/ldpaths i.e ${JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/jdk1.7.0_07/jre}



Otra advertencia (relativamente obvia): no haga lo que hice e instale java6 y java7. Eso llevó a un conflicto que no pude "arreglar" al especificar rutas y variables de entorno. La eliminación de ambos y la reinstalación de java6 llevaron a la instalación exitosa de JGR. (Esto debajo de ubuntu precisa, en un Powerbook de Apple G4)
